How are you really? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Early in life we learn to say 'I'm fine' to the question 'How are you?', regardless of how we might be feeling. It’s having a stiff-upper-lip or being 'superhuman' because you don't get stressed easily. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ But what 'I'm fine' is actually doing, is burying the anxiety, stress, and tension you really feel. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Everyone experiences stress. It could be: ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 😢 emotional stress - a difficult divorce or loss of a loved one 📚 mental stress - studying hard for finals or working super-long hours 🏋️ physical stress - working hard at the gym or staring at a screen ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Whatever the type of stress you're experiencing, your body is reacting in the same way. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Your adrenal glands are triggered to produce a hormone called cortisol. ⚡One of the things we’ve definitely learned during the past couple of months is the importance of having some extra food staples in our pantries … just in case!🥫 - 😱That can be a real struggle if you have a small kitchen or not much storage. - 👉Keeping a supply of canned beans, lentils, quinoa, rice, gluten-free pasta, sauces, protein powder, nut butters, tuna, canned tomatoes, low-sodium soups, and other healthy pantry must-haves can take up a surprising amount of space. - 🍷Plus, when your pantry is disorganized, it’s super easy to forget exactly what you have on-hand, which can cause waste and/or extra trips to the grocery store. - 💡Here are some tips to make the most of what you have … and stay organized in the process! - ● Add wire baskets that hook underneath your cabinet shelving. Under shelf baskets are inexpensive and can almost double the amount of cabinet storage space. ● Pick up a wire rack with hooks at the top to go over doors. These come in different sizes and can store spices, cleaning items, etc. ● Add bars at the rear of your cabinets, and use S hooks to hang up your coffee cups, clearing out needed space. Or hang S hooks on your backsplash to store kitchen utensils, freeing up drawer space. ● Use a plate rack to organize the covers for all your plastic reusable containers. ● In really tight areas, turn a clear “over the door” shoe organizer into a holder for snacks or cooking utensils. I'm slowly working on adding more ceramic⠀ .⠀ Baking. Aluminum=NOT a great option. It's a toxic heavy metal that can leach into foods when heated. Consider stainless steel. In 2015 DuPont had a flood of lawsuits against them for the uses perfluorooctanoic acid or C8 (the chemicals w/ no sticking power ). However, DuPont and other companies are still using a version of C8 in non-stick cookware 😐. Madrid Statement w/ more than 40 scientists from 200 countries highlights the potential harm of both old and new PFAS chemicals. These chemicals protect carpets from stains, keeps food from sticking to packaging/pans, repels rain from your coat, prevents mascara from running. If you get a pastry, a PFAS substance probably lined the waxy paper it was served on. I was working with my coach last night and we were talking about what I wanted to create in the next 6 months… I had a weight loss goal, a wedding goal, relationship goals, and lifestyle goals. Then she asked me what 3 positive emotions I wanted to feel the most in the next 6 months. I listed happiness, calm, and confident✨ 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘯𝘦𝘹𝘵 𝘲𝘶𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘴𝘩𝘦 𝘢𝘴𝘬𝘦𝘥 𝘮𝘦 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘵𝘩𝘳𝘦𝘸 𝘮𝘦 𝘰𝘧𝘧… She asked: “what 3 𝐍𝐄𝐆𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐕𝐄 emotions do you most want to feel over the next 6 months?” 𝗪𝐇𝐀𝐓?! 𝗪𝐡𝐲 𝐰𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐈 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐥 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐧𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐨𝐧 𝐩𝐮𝐫𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐞..? FEAR: everything new (no matter how big or small ) is scary as heck to my brain and I’d rather feel that fear than run away from it. DISAPPOINTMENT: when I work towards a goal and it doesn’t work out or I don’t succeed, I want to feel disappointed vs. never even trying to avoid the disappointment altogether So, while you're working to reach your goals and become that future version of you... I am ALWAYS thinking. Sometimes I swear I have 3 different thought trains going on at once. I am constantly analyzing, preparing, reflecting, creating all in my mind. It’s me 👋🏼 . This morning I received a message asking how to “reset & restart” your nutrition/fitness after a sugar-filled weekend or rough few months. She said she was thinking of doing a 5 day juice cleanse. I realized how common it is for us to think we have to make BIG changes to “get back on track.” . My advice... . Start small & think big. . Tiny consistent changes will add up to make a big impact! . Trying to overhaul your entire health regime in one day is a recipe for overwhelm & disappointment. . Set yourself up for little victories every day. One by one, introduce new healthy habits into your life and prove to yourself that you CAN do it! 🤩 . Start with - 1/3 of your plate being fruits & veggies. - Aim for at least 10g protein per snack and 20g for meals. - Choose high fiber grains. - Cut back on sugary beverages. Replace them with water. - Go to sleep 1 hour earlier. - MOVE every day. Workout, go for a walk, play a sport. Anything that gets your blood flowing and your heart pumping. It’s not only good for your muscles, heart & metabolism. It works wonders for your mood 😃 #endorphinsmakeyouhappy . Start small, be consistent and you’ll be back on the Fit Train in no time!

I’M SO DONE IN THE KITCHEN!! Are you??! Don’t get me wrong, I really love cooking and making meals look yummy, but being in the kitchen 24/7 is getting old! My dishwasher hasn’t seen this much action in years 🤪 I think what’s upsetting me most is that my schedule is completely thrown off and so is my eating and meal planning! I’m sleeping later (which is so nice and pleasurable ) but then my breakfast is later than normal, which is pushing my lunch off to around 2:00/2:30. That’s a really weird time for me… so then I start to think, maybe this should be my bigger meal of the day, and either skip dinner or go super light and just have a snack around 7:00. Is anyone dealing with the same thing??🤔 I know from working with so many women over the years, that rhythm and timing of meals is crucial for weight loss success, and on a personal note, it makes a big difference for me. I need to eat every 4 hours to feel my best, but I don’t like eating a large dinner at 7:00/8:00 and that’s what’s been happening over here in Zo Healthy Land! So, after thinking this through, I’m trying an Intermittent Fasting protocol, but on the “back end” of the day, not in the morning. If you’ve gained a few pounds and are mindlessly snacking (hellooooo!! ) give this method a try, it may work wonders for you! Sometimes just narrowing your eating window is all you need to get back on track and feeling more like yourself. If you need help, let me know... I'm here to help! 😁
