My wife is traveling this weekend. As I will be at home with my ten-month old son, Linus, I am reminded of the important role that mothers play in all of our lives! Here is a book that helps put my feelings into words. Devoted - Great Men and Their Godly Moms is a 128-page book by blogger, author, and book reviewer Tim Challies. He highlights 11 women who shaped the men who changed the world. These men are John Newton, Hudson Taylor, J. Gresham Machen, Christopher Yuan, William Borden, Charles Hodge, John Piper, Charles Spurgeon, Augustine, D. L. Moody, and Timothy. While sections of this book are written directly to women, I strongly believe that boys, men, husbands, and fathers need to read this book. My full review and video preview are coming soon! Thanks to @cruciformpress for providing this book in exchange for an honest review.

If you are having a hard time with understanding the scriptures, particularly the words of Isaiah, I found a talk that you must read!! It is from President Eyring (when he was one of the Twelve Apostles ). What I got out of it is, yes it is wonderful to try to understand Isaiah’s imagery in His writing, it is also great to read Isaiah with a prayer in our heart knowing that there is a message from the Lord to us as we read! Elder Eyring began his study with these two questions, “The Lord is speaking to me. What is it He wants to tell me directly?” I think this is such a powerful way to study!! We might not fully understand everything that we read, but we can receive messages from the Lord as we open our hearts and minds and seek them. I loved reading 2 Nephi 27 today!! It is amazing the things Isaiah prophesied about the Book of Mormon! How blessed we are to have it, to be able to study from it and receive that power that enters into our lives as we learn from it! Here’s that talk, it is a must read!!! https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/liahona/2004/02/the-book-of-mormon-will-change-your-life?lang=eng
Getting ready for tomorrow: a new day. While I spend 6 or so hours sleeping tonight, satan will be planning, strategically. While I rest and my mind quiets, satan will be actively working, scheming, conspiring. While my body reenergizes, satan and his followers will be waiting...waiting for me to wake up and not put on my Spiritual Armor. They’re counting on it. I’ve started SOOOO many days, Most of my days, doing just that — checking my phone, rushing to get ready, feeling anxiety for the day, craving coffee, getting annoyed for my family not moving quickly enough, rushing... Satan is counting on me not waking up and immediately surrendering my day to Jesus. He is betting that I won’t cover myself in prayer and in His Word. He is hoping I’ll forget God until later when I’m alone in the car or taking a break and suddenly remember to pray for the day. I’m reading now. I want it on my mind as I go to sleep. My Bible will be open to Ephesians 6 when I wake up. Only by leaning into the Spirit will I be ready for his games, his traps, his attacks. We’re in a real battle ladies. It’s an every day choice. Our enemy is not sleeping. We must. So let’s make sure we’re ready to arm ourselves as soon as we wake. Satan is at your hearts door. Make sure it’s heavily secured by the power of JESUS and Him alone.
Repost @justahandmaiden ❤ • • • ...It can be really easy to look at what other people are doing for Lent and just jump on the train of what they’re doing - people are getting off Instagram for lent so I will, my sister is doing no chocolate so I’ll do no chocolate - but God is asking a little more of us this year for lent. So here are some tips to really help you pray through what God wants from you this lent/how he desires you to grow. 1 ) the church says lent is a time of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving so what are ways you can better your prayer life, fast, and give of yourself. 2 ) what is distracting you from your relationship with God right now? Are you staying up late which makes you too tired to wake up early to pray - maybe your Lenten promise can be going to bed by 11:30. Are you a binge-watcher - give up the during the week. Do you spend more than 3-4 hours on your phone a day - limit your phone usage. 3 ) think about something extra that you really love but isn’t necessary for you life. Do you love Starbucks coffee? Maybe consider giving that up so that every time you think about getting Starbucks you’re reminded of the sacrifice you’re making. Fasting is meant to be a reminder of Jesus’ sacrifice for us - so it should be something you love so when you want it it’s actually a sacrifice that reminds you heaven is more important than the things of this world. 4 ) do you have an opportunity to do more charity work? Does your church or school offer homeless food runs, visiting the elderly, or something else so that you can give of yourself during this time of almsgiving. 5 ) what is a vice that you are struggling with right now? Are you lazy, undisciplined in prayer, struggling with lust, ect. Find out the opposing virtue to the vice you are struggling with and prayer through how you can replace that vice with greater virtue! 6 ) remember that lent isn’t about torturing yourself or just giving something up for 40 days and then falling back into it - Lent is a time of preparation and transformation. #mydailyfiat
Ashes on my head. I'm not perfect. None of us are perfect. But every day I have the opportunity to get closer to the one who is perfect: God.💒 . The ashes are to remind us of our own impermanence. The old must pass away for the new to arise.✝️ . Lent, which begins today, is there to prepare us for what will be in a few weeks. To calm down, to go deep within ourselves, to reconnect with God. Jesus will die and rise again. He will overcome death and sin. We can let go of the old. I trust that good things will come out of it.😉 . It is not me who has to be perfect and not everything in my life has to run smoothly. But I may let myself be filled by Jesus Christ again and again.🙏🏻 . Lent does not mean renunciation for me, but richness, diversity, depth and God's love.❤️ . Have you resolved to fast? If so, what then?😇 . . . . #fastenzeit #aschermittwoch #ash #ashwednesday #lent #passionszeit #jesuschrist #jesuschristus #kirche #kirche #katholisch #catholic #godisgood #cross #kreuz #asche #ascheaufmeinhaupt #jesusblogger #christianinfluencer #godislove #blessed #gesegnet #fasten #faithblogger #believe #faith #glaubehoffnungliebe #ostern #wenigeristmehr #easter #hopeful
Have you ever been around someone with a good name? Chances are you felt really comfortable being around that person because you knew 1 ) they would do what they do and 2 ) weren’t hiding who they really are. _____________ Your name is the most important thing you will ever have. Here are 3 ways to keep a good name (even when people may be trying to destroy your reputation ): 👇🏽 1. Be on time. 2. Do what you say you will do. 3. Treat others the way you want to be treated.
This tender and gracious assurance appears here in a somewhat unexpected connexion. The Book of Jeremiah, taken as a whole, is a sad book; it consists in the main of warnings, expostulations, and prophecies of doom; and these prophecies are shown in process of fulfilment almost while they were being uttered. It is a sombre picture of human life which is presented to us in these vivid pages. And yet here we have, in the very midst of all this darkness and all these oracles of stern judgment, the sweet utterance which forms the text: “The Lord appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.” With lovingkindness? Loved with an everlasting love? Nothing could have seemed less like it just then. Fierce, terrible, merciless were the ways of God to Israel so far as appearances went, and not without cause. Love was about the last word that could describe the relations of these suffering people to their offended God. #bible #biblestudy #biblestudydaily #dailydevotion #biblenotes #bibleverse #christianblog #christianblogger #biblestudyplan #journalingbible #wordbeforeworld #biblejournaling #biblelove #biblepride #wisdom #godisgood #grace #prosperity #love #happiness #quote #jesuslovesyou #sharejesus #faith #faithblogger #shereadstruth #versestoliveby #quotestoliveby #loveyourlife #kingdomwork

You are... Who God Says You Are, so don’t let the world tell you otherwise. Even when things aren’t going well, keep a positive confession that it will be well! And watch God turn every bad thing that was meant to harm you around for your good. Double time. “We know that God is always at work for the good of everyone who loves Him. Unforgiveness and bitterness give the devil footholds big enough to pull his body in. Ephesians 4:26-27 tells us, "Be angry but do not sin. Do not let the sun go down on your anger. Do not give place to the devil." (MEV ) Choose to forgive. Don't hold grudges. Release the offenses made against you. Release it all unto the Lord (see Romans 17-20 ). "...do not give the devil a foothold." – Ephesians 4:27 (NIV ) The Bible tells us that we, as children of God, should have nothing to do with the devil. There are some times, however, when we unwittingly give the enemy a foothold from where he can influence our decisions. Think about it. What's a foothold? A foothold can be best understood by imagining yourself being chased by a bad person. You run up to your room and try to close the door, but the person sticks his shoe at the bottom end of the door so you can't close it. That part of his foot that prevents you from closing the door effectively is called a "foothold." Footholds are very dangerous. It allows thieves and other evil people the chance to threaten you, cause you to fret or panic, throw things at you, and give them an opportunity to eventually break in. If footholds allow wicked people to do such things, you can just think of what the devil, persistent as he is, can do when he secures a foothold in your life. Don't allow him! 🌟 In the waves of changes we discover our path and direction in life. 🌟 ========================= Double tap if you agree 🇦🇨🇦🇩🇦🇪🇦🇷🇧🇷🇧🇴🇨🇽🇨🇼🇨🇻🇨🇺🇨🇬🇨🇫🇧🇼🇩🇴🇪🇨🇪🇹🇫🇴🇫🇲🇬🇫🇬🇪🇬🇩🇬🇧🇫🇮🇮🇴🇬🇸🇮🇹🇮🇷🇮🇶🇮🇴🇮🇳🇮🇲🇮🇱🇮🇪🇮🇨🇭🇺🇭🇹 . . . #NationShaker #shesharestruth #AgentOfChange #Confused #WowGOD #AngeliqueReynoso #KnowAngel #MyStory #HopeDealer #inspodaily #Sober #Woke #Joy #HeavenIsSpeaking #HealthieSelfie #loveconquersall #Drank #OfficialyAddicted #Glory #Prophesy #faithblogger #ED #Jesus #biblicaltruth #AngeliqueNews #Quotes #NoLimitSoldier #Addict #HolySpirit #Soberlife

“The greatest among you shall be your servant.” Matthew 23:11 🌿
The powerful Assyrian king Sennacharib had laid siege to Jerusalem. King Hezekiah, who told his people to keep their faith in God, prayed for delivery from their enemy: “And Hezekiah prayed to the Lord: ‘Now, O Lord our God, deliver us from his hand, so that all kingdoms on earth may know that you alone, O Lord, are God’” (1 Kings 19:20 ). That night, the angel of the Lord killed 85,000 Assyrian soldiers, which compelled the rest of the army to return home without a fight. I had sex outside of marriage because I was looking for love, acceptance, and validation that I was not getting in other places. 🦋 After understanding that God’s love was the most perfect love and that a man wouldn’t satisfy me, I sought to stop having sex in my own strength and kept falling. There was a point where I would have sex as a Christian and not feel convicted, but when I wanted to please God I felt so bad and would cry every time I fell. I would say things like “I would never be a wife.” 🦋 After failing so many times , I had to give this area of my life to God to restore my purity. I finally was obedient and stopped talking to men. This gave me the space I needed to heal and allow the love of God to change my mind and heart when it came to sex. 🦋 Through the power of the Holy Spirit, I became a born again virgin and year after I decided to give my body back to God, God presented me before my husband. 🦋 Contrary to popular belief, holiness is still right. As a believer , sex outside of marriage does break the heart of God and hinders from experience true Love which is found in Him. 🦋 Don’t believe the lie of the enemy. You are pure and holy as God is pure and holy. Do not pursue your flesh, surrender it to the Lord and experience the peace, love , and joy in Him. Fall in love with the lover of your soul, He died for you so you can be set free from the bondage of sin. 🦋 If you would like to hear a little more about my journey to rededicating my purity to the Lord , check out my book #Victorythroughtheodds 🦋 #Lifestyle #lifecoach #faithblogger #newbeliever #jesuschrist #walkbyfaith #godlywoman #godlymarriage #selfcare #kingdomliving #faithlife #graceheals #trusttheprocess #removethemask #bravebyfaith #sexisholy #journeytowholiness #speaktheword #glory #generationalwealth #puritygoals #newmindset #newbeginnings #godlylife #millenialchristian #christianinfluencersunited
When you write a book, you have to be willing to be more honest than you're comfortable with. Being transparent about the things you've gone through is the only way you're going to be able to help somebody. It's necessary. When you bleed onto the pages, what you're sharing becomes the transfusion that helps somebody to live beyond their pain. And that's the whole purpose of writing your book. Writing is a truly cathartic process that brings clarity to your heart. It helps you, and it helps somebody else avoid going through what you went through. Your pain wasn't for nothing. But unless you share your story, nobody else is going to be able to benefit from it. So, don't avoid the painful parts. You've already gone through the hardest part, living through what will go in the book. If you could do that, you can do this. Take a deep breath and DM me the word "FINALLY" so I can guide you through the rest of the process.. #themillionairewriter #ibringoutthebookinyou #BLANKTOBOOK

A wise woman once told me that there is a difference between happiness & joy. • Happiness is dependent upon external circumstances. Joy is a peace that comes from within. • Happiness is fleeting - it comes & goes with the happenings & circumstances of life. Joy is a constant thing that we can choose to live out no matter what happens in life. It’s an attitude. • I struggled for a little while a few months ago, feeling deflated as the state of my circumstances wasn’t so happy. But God reminded me of this joy that I can choose to have despite the circumstances I was walking through. • So how do we attain this joy? It’s found in a relationship with the creator of the universe. It’s found when we dig into this relationship & choose faith as our foundation. It’s found when this relationship causes us to feel the love of God. And it’s found when we can share that love with others. • That woman who told me this difference between happiness & joy is one of the strongest women I know - and although the circumstances & happenings of life have caused her much pain, she still says that she continually makes the decision to choose joy in all circumstances. • God has given us the power to do that exact same thing, & I pray that you choose joy as well each & every day. #boundblessings

“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.” Isaiah 43:18-19 . This scripture has been an anchor for the @freeandonfire_ team and boy oh boy has God been doing new things with this project, but more so in our hearts and in our lives. . Every one of us has been going thru fire in our own way, and we’ve been talking thru it and growing thru it together these past few months. . I was talking to a friend who reminded me, it’s as if we go thru things ourselves first so God can use what we’ve learned to encourage or provide insight to others. . That so rings true here. This show has been about our healing and growing in relationship with Father. I know these trying times are giving us perspective and empathy into the lives of the women I pray we reach. . Tomorrow’s episode is me sharing why and how this whole thing got started, and my prayer and intention behind the episodes. I can’t wait to share it. 💖
"Mountaintops are for views and inspiration, but fruit is grown in the valleys." Billy Graham We can sometimes go through valley seasons which are hard. All we may want to say to God during these times is, 'What is happening?' 'Why aren't things working out?' 'Where do I go from here?' and so on. Just a reminder that God knows exactly what He is doing. He is not as cruel as to abandon you or make things difficult for the sake of it. Even in the midst of difficulty, there will still be at least a few good things we can be thankful for and I think this in itself is evidence of God with us. Joy, peace, and other spiritual fruits grow within us when we begin to understand the magnitude of this truth- the truth of God with us. And not just with us but *for* us.
here’s my list. in chapel last week, the speaker talked about the parable spoken by Jesus of the Pharisee and tax collector in Luke 18: “Two men went up into the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. The Pharisee, standing by himself, prayed thus: ‘God, I thank you that I am not like other men, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even like this tax collector. I fast twice a week; I give tithes of all that I get.’ But the tax collector, standing far off, would not even lift up his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me, a sinner!’” (v. 10-13 ESV ) the speaker highlighted the pride of the Pharisee contrasted to the humility of the tax collector in this passage, and then he went on to talk about the importance of calling out your sin— literally naming it for the purpose of removing it. so here’s my list. it’s definitely not exhaustive, but it tackles the big things. some (if not most ) days I am the Pharisee— prideful, selfish, negative, and a perfectionist. but some days I am the tax collector— recognizing my shortcomings and begging God to just have mercy. I definitely hate this list because of the truth it holds about myself, but I also love this list because of the way God has been gracious and loving to me through it. I will never be able to understand that love, but I am thankful for it. obviously we won’t ever be perfect, and God doesn’t even expect perfection, but we must be proactive in being aware of our sins and intentionally working to remove them. we need to step into the dark hallway of our hearts, being brutally honest with ourselves in order to shed some light onto what needs to be fixed in order to become more like Christ. because that’s all that matters— being in Christ and becoming more like Him. being in Christ means sharing His love with others. I tell you what I tell you because I love you. not because I know you personally, but because you are a soul that has been created by the Creator, and I want to spend eternity with you. so here’s my list. and I can’t wait to cross something off. what does your list look like? but more importantly, what are you doing to cross them off your list

Manasseh = For God has made me forget all my toil and all my father’s house. ------- Today I am speaking to those who have been through hell. So many troubles, but you managed to keep going. So much rejection, but you still gave. Abandoned by people but never left by God... so somehow you had strength. God is saying "The plans I have for you are to prosper you. (Jeremiah 29:11 )." Yes troubles have come " And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will Himself RESTORE, CONFIRM, STRENGTHEN, and ESTABLISH YOU(1 Peter 5:10 ESV )." If that doesn't make you shout... you will do so well in the place and position God has for you, that as you begin to birth something new, you will reflect on your life... and Like Joseph, YOUR MANASSEH IS HERE! The blessings of God, the favor of The King, the God-given purpose you are walking in will be SO GOOD that you will forget your past troubles and the sorrows of what you left behind! Change the world? I could never, I thought. . I used to think I’d never be one of those people “on fire for God.” I thought I would never be as high-spirited and animated about Jesus as my church camp counselors were. Secretly, I felt like I didn’t have enough to offer God, lead enough for God, or speak intelligently enough about Him. I felt unequipped and unworthy. . Over the years, though, I’ve learned “on fire for God” doesn’t necessarily mean this intense outward enthusiasm for Him like I have always thought. It’s not a constant spiritual high. Rather, being on fire for God is a heart position that can be expressed in multiple different ways. It’s the result of an authentic faith — one that is deeply rooted. It’s knowing and believing in who He is. It’s a deep, intimate relationship with Him. It’s consistent prayer, careful study of His word, and an honest daily examination of the heart. . You see, you don’t have to be a certain type of person to be on fire for God, because He called you the way you are. He gave you a purpose, and He will equip you with everything you need to fulfill it. Seek a right relationship with Him, step into who you are, and remember that one person on fire for God can change the world. That’s you, friend. . My friend @nallely__rodriguez opened an Etsy shop & sent me this quote — check out her shop for other encouraging reminders in lots of beautiful fonts. 🤍
FAITH ISN’T BUILT ON STAGE. IT’S BUILT IN THE ABIDING MOMENTS…💛🌸✨ Beloved sister, take comfort in this: Your Father wants to spend every moment with you. He sees your quirks + imperfections. Yet He still invites your heart everyday… pleading that you abide in His life-changing Word. 👇🏼 Your desire to grow your faith & change the world isn’t overlooked. He lovingly reminds you that it starts in quiet, personal moments in the Word💭 That the key to a life of faith in Him starts with a desire to store His Word in your heart. 🤍 So, sis… say yes to reading your Bible. Make it your mission to learn about the One who saved you. Seek Him, purely because you love Him. Then watch Him bless & ready you for action⚡️ [ Read John 15 ] 🌿 📣 SAVE + REPOST to your story if you believe this with me!🥰👏🏼
I know Lent begins tomorrow, but let’s be real, you probably don’t know what you’re doing yet or you’re at least going back and forth. 🤷🏼♀️ Don’t worry I’m not judging, I just decided last night! In years past I’ve either seen Lent as a period of dieting 🍴or a time of discouragement in my lack of discipline. But this year I had an 💡 and tried a new approach. It’s pretty simple, but I really liked it and think you may too! It goes like this: 1️⃣ Reflect on your largest areas of struggle or sin over the past year. ☠️ 2️⃣ Write down your goals for faith, relationships, life etc & how you want to improve 👆🏼 struggle. 3️⃣ Choose prayers, sacrifices and acts of service that will help you reach your stated goals. 💯 IMPORTANT REMINDERS: 📢 Bigger isn’t always better! Sometimes it’s better to be consistent in smaller things than give up because you had unrealistic expectations. 📢 It’s ok if you aren’t always perfect! If you make a mistake, remind yourself tomorrow is a new day and start again. 👇🏼💬Comment below what you’re doing for Lent! You can read what I’ll be doing in the comments! #carolineroseowens #shebelievedpodcast
“Joy is a net of love by which we catch souls.” - St. Teresa of Calcutta
INSTA VS. REALITY👉🏼 Today felt a lot like my face looks in this pic — covered. Hidden. 🙈 I didn’t want to face some heart issues that arose this weekend, so I covered them up. Tried to ignore the Holy Spirit knocking on my heart, saying, “Tara. Come to me. Let Me heal you.” After letting go of the bitterness that consumed me today, the Lord told my heart to share this with YOU. Not to make you feel sorry for me, but to serve a greater purpose👇🏼 TRUTH: I am deeply flawed. Most of the time, social media makes me look “put-together”… always positive, with the right things to say. My pride didn’t want to post this because I was ashamed of the way I was handling my circumstances. 🙃 But I am reminded that my weaknesses & mistakes are reasons to sing✨ Not because they’re God’s best for me — quite the opposite, actually. But because they’re perfect platforms for God’s grace & power to show up + show off. 💗🙌🏼 [Read 2 Cor. 12:9-10] Sis… remember I’m just like you. Me ‘n my Instagram are far from perfect but we’re committed to point you to Jesus… in the messy and pretty. 🌦 Let’s run together & continually hand ourselves to God. And with one voice, let’s unashamedly declare our weaknesses so that our Father gets the credit…🤍☀️
The beauty of the Gospel is that God didn’t just make a way for us to get in heaven. He went beyond that, He made a way for us to be perfected in Jesus. He made a way to regenerate and restore our life back to His life. He made a way just so He can call us blameless. God is good at being God.❣️ Heavenly Father, I thank you for your undeserving grace. I thank you for the cross where my sin was lifted but more so I thank you for the empty tomb, Lord. In Christ’s resurrection, you resurrected those who put their faith in you and we’re perfected because of you, Jesus! Thank you, God 💛 Holy Trinity.

I cannot think of one person that has not embarked on a journey with God, before being released into their calling I love to read testimonies because they build my faith, that if God has done it before, He will do it again. We hear it so many times...breakthrough is coming...have faith...do not give up...but what about our hopes and dreams that we have waited for, and waited for, and. My heart poured out to God when I read this verse in Psalm 38:9 because we even see within the Bible - the Giants of Faith - that even they stood with God for decades...waiting. Friends, what are you waiting for? What do you pray for, and now sigh at, when you speak the words? That longing....the aching in your Spirit to “be released.” The vision that God has given you, seems but a distant memory of excitement and desire Yet, for me, too, there is hope. As I read about the “Cloud of Witnesses” and “God’s Generals” on this Earth, they all have a testimony - not just of God’s goodness, but of His perfect timing. We may have to go on a journey that takes many years, but one day, when we realise that we are walking in our God-given vision and dreams, we will thank Him God always was and is interested in our hearts within the journey He takes us on, and if God has spoken, why do we doubt it will happen in the first place? It's only a matter of time . . . . . #psalm38 #sighing #waitinggame #breakthrough #havefaithingod #histimingisperfect #rebeccalbrand #motivationalspeaker #authorsofinstagram #trustgod #releaseme
