No me interesan. . #jonesbø #jonesbo #books 📚 #harryhole #harryholeseries #booklover #lovebooks #lovebooks 📚 #librosrecomendados 📚 #novelanegra #novelanordica #novelanegraycriminal #novelapoliciaca #investigacioncriminal #suspense #librosymas #librosymaslibros #librosrecomendados #librosmiadicción #novelas #librosmiadiccion #bookclub #bookish #bookreviews #reseñadelibros #reseñasliterarias #bookstagramespaña #lecturasrecomendadas #bookstagrammer #bookstagram

THOSE SHIPWRECK KIDS by Jon Tucker Before embarking on a journey through the Pacific, Jess and her family are excited to meet their Kiwi friends in New Zealand. Once there, the five children enjoy camping and exploring on the island, as well as finding a deserted campsite. On further exploration, they find a diary and a camera, which give them more information about the mystery. There was a strong idea that the children loved sailing and exploring; however, there were many extra plots in the story that made it hard for me to decide which the main one was. There were many unanswered questions and mysteries that were not resolved by the end of the book. Despite this, I did like how Jon Tucker incorporated that sense of wild island life, giving me an urge to bushwalk among the ferns and trees. This book lacked cohesion and I would recommend it to younger readers. #bookreviews #bookstagram #books #bookreview #bookworm #bookstagrammer #booklover #bookish #book #booksofinstagram #booknerd #bookreviewer #reading #bookrecommendations #bookblogger #readersofinstagram #booksbooksbooks #bookaddict #bookclub #bookphotography #bookobsessed #igreads #bookshelf #read #booklovers #bookcommunity #goodreads #bookblog #booklover #bookloverofinstagram

The concept of traveling, leaving behind all anxieties, problems, loneliness, daily issues is something new, unique, and beautiful. In this story, a foremost travel agency - Beinz, organizes an all-women trip to Spain and Portugal for 13 days for which 16 stranger women of ages from 25 to 67 get connected with each other. . From a messy life full of struggle, violence to a life full of sorted things, the book ends inspiringly. The author has wonderfully worked on the description of each character. The struggle and their stories have been described very well. The book shows almost every emotion of these ladies and their inspiring journey. . The language is lucid to understand. But the author's vocabulary is quite strong and impressive. The plot is crispy and unique. Also, the narration is good and smooth. Overall, it was a worthy read. The author's writing style makes you hooked to the book till the last page. . The book cover is so colorful and gives positive vibes to a reader. Also, the title is appropriate for the book. . Worrying. It took a while for me to be immerse into this new role. Law is not my job, never studied it, I don’t read books around it. I don’t watch many crime or documentaries on the justice system. Once I was comfortable (enough ) in this new seat I was ready to learn. To be honest it has frightened me the budget cuts, the lack of care or attention put in by people working to defend the accused. Reading about the guilty walking free and cases that are back logged or ignored waiting for people to ‘break’ - either the complaintant or the defence. I’m angry at the system. When I started to read I didn’t think it included many cases (I was expected more of a diary entry like ‘this is going to hurt’ ) I didn’t understand why it was anonymous. I then realised it wasn’t a book just about the cases, the individuals, the crimes. The book is anonymous because it is screaming out the flaws in the legal system. We have gone back stage to see the picture clearer. ‘Innocent until proven guilty’ and the fear of miscarriage of justice makes me feel like the victim is actually the one put on trial. They are up for questioning, humiliation with no care on a sensitive case. People who a released after it has come apparent that they are NOT guilty and no compensation. Their life is ruined and no one is saying or paying for the damages caused. Horrifying. Disgusting. It has made me nervous if I ever have the unfortunate situation to have to go to court. For jury serves, a witness or maybe even the victim (complantant or defendant ) it made me feel sick and half of me wanted to stop reading. #thesecretbarrister #anonymous #thelaw #truestory #bookreviews #bookrecommend #bookstagram
I love these collection of short stories. Whenever I read them I always imagine the Weasley kids snuggling in and Molly reading these to them at night❤️🙈 Everyone knows of The tail of Three Brothers but there are so many more incredible fairy tales full of magic. The Keeper of Lost Things by Ruth Hogan - Book review. 🌟🌟🌟🌟 / 4 stars. I really enjoyed this very sweet and charming book, based in London and Brighton. This is the tale of Anthony Peardew's drive to collect lost items and reunite them with their owners in hope of spreading joy and to tackle his own guilt and pain around the death of his beloved, Therese on his wedding day. This is a beautiful tale of love, loss and friendship as Laura, who inherits Anthony's home and belongings fulfils his dreams and heals from her own heartbreak and devastation. 4 stars from me for its beauty but would have preferred a little more. . . . . . . . . . #bookrecommendations #bookishlove #bookreviews #bookstagram #bookloversunite #lostthings #writersofinstagram
Buongiorno, amici #bookworms !

Hey guys! This week I’ve reviewed one the best books I’ve read so far in 2020. It’s A Monster Calls ( @amonstercalls ) by Patrick Ness ( @patricknessbooks ). This simple and short book has affected me in more ways than I can tell you. The book got so popular they’ve actually made a movie based on it. But as law dictates, you must read the book first. Head over to the blog to read a spoiler free review and my attempts at convincing you to read the book. Enjoy! Committed: A Skeptic Makes Peace with Marriage (2010 ) by @elizabeth_gilbert_writer . I enjoyed Elizabeth's writing style on Eat, Pray, Love so I couldn't resist getting this one. I was a bit skeptical about reading it though... "marriage" is a big word, and I didn't want to get information from an unreliable source, if I may put it that way... So Liz and Felipe are in a pretty serious relationship now, both have been through rough divorces and pledge to never ever get married but to stay in love forever. Well, it didn't go as planned; the US government intervened, Filipe was detained at an American border gate forcing the couple to either get married or Felipe won't ever be allowed to enter the country again. So this "hiccup" gives Liz some time to tackle her fear of marriage, she researches the topic intensely - history of marriage, interviews and explores different cultures of marriage, including gender roles and society's role and expectations. One small community particularly stood out for me, this community collectively helps the new couple to build a house and with all that they would need to start a family... it seemed like everyone is obliged to participate in the practice, that is what the wedding day is about, a celebration of a new family and the community playing an active role in this new journey. Liz shares her fears and confusion, and she takes you on a ride of discovery about compatibility, family tradition, needs, social expectations and respondibilities. She is sharing her experiences, she seeks her own truth "amid many theories, expectations and ideas sold to us by society", of which some may be distorted from what God intended the institution to be. I like the inquisitive attitude on the matter but I wish there was more on sacredness of marriage. But it is a great read, especially for skeptics 😅 #marriage #committed #commitment eatpraylove #elizabethgilbert #books #goodreads #stayhome #keepsafe #booklover #bookaddict #reading #novels #booktable #bookclub #bookshop #bookshelf #bookstagram #bookreviews #coffee #ReadersHaven #TheBookShelf
📚 The woman from Sarajevo by Ivo Andric 🇷🇸 Serbia 1945 . . ⭐⭐⭐💫 . . . . This is a book by the Serbian Nobel winner writer Ivo Andric. It is part of the Bosnian trilogy along with Bosnian Chronicle and the Bridge on the Drina, which is maybe Andric's most famous novel. The book presents the life and death of "the woman from Sarajevo", a very peculiar woman, transformed by fate and circumstances into a mean and heartless loan shark. The woman from Sarajevo experiences tumultuous times during World War I in the Balkans, however she remains impassive and focused on her goal: earning her 1st million! . . . . 📌Why I should have read it earlier: . . This is an atmospheric book that takes us to pre-war Balkans, full of different people, colors and global events. I found the plot quite boring and rather flat. The woman's life is mainly uneventful, I kept expecting a certain development, instead I found a disappointing and predictable ending. . . . #book #books #bookstagram #booklover #booknerd #bookworm #reading #read #readmorebooks #library #booklitty #ivoandric #bookreviews
# # # # What would you do if you woke up one day and found that you are an owner of an elephant? Will you live with it or get rid of it? Adrian Rookwhistle, the protagonist, has no choice. He has to live with it. And in living with it he goes on an adventure that promises smiles and laughters for the reader. In the Foreword, Gerald Durrell claims that almost all of the recorded incidents in this book actually happened. If that's true, then there's no doubt that the real-life Adrian had one hell of an adventure.
Book review!📚 Good girl, Bad Blood - Holly Jackson After solving a double murder case Pip vows she’s done playing detective as it took over her life. But when one of her friend’s brothers goes missing and the police won’t do anything it falls to Pip to investigate and try to find Jamie. Another great book by Holly Jackson! I loved the first one and this sequel was great too! I didn’t find Pip as likeable in this book at first and was going to rate it a 4 but the storyline and ending definitely redeemed it for me! Well...mixed feelings doesn’t even cover how I felt towards this book. So strap in because I’m fairly sure this is gonna be a rollercoaster of a review... Firstly I want to get it out there that this is a fantastic book! However, I unfortunately didn’t think it quite lived up to the hype, and did find it a bit too YA for me (nothing against YA as I love it, but I thought some of the tropes were a little too much sometimes ). I also couldn’t connect to the main character at all and to be honest found Pip rather irritating. On the other hand though, I absolutely had the biggest fictional crush on Ravi ever😍😍plus I loved the fact I couldn’t guess the ending and it kept surprising me all along! The main reason for my rating is not because of the book itself per se, but more because it wasn’t a page turner for me and I never felt drawn to read it. So for that reason I have to give it 3/5 but don’t let that put you off as it was still an enjoyable read!!! 🕯what YA books would you recommend?🕯
‘One of the more important yet underrated women in the tale of #Ramayan is #Surpanakha or Meenakshi as her original name is.
#Kavitakane is an author whom I admire for bringing out the stories of these unsung heroines of #hindumythology .
Reading #LankasPrincess was a process in which I was constantly screaming in my head "don't do it, don't do it, don't do it".
Meenakshi had a very hard life living with three elder brothers who did not bother much about her, a mother who did not want a daughter and a loving father who protected and loved her but in the end chose his first wife and son over her.
Surpanakha had already faced many trials in her life, she loved and lost her husband in the most brutal way before she decided that enough was enough. The slow transformation of kind and compassionate Princess Meenakshi into the ruthless and vengeful Surpanakha is heart-breaking
Kavita Kane's story also explores the lives of the women living in Ravana's castle.
Surpanakha was a product of all the hate and anguish inflicted on a woman and what happened when she finally took matters in her own hands.
It is a must read for people who have read Forest of Enchantments. The writer has very cleanly tackled the issues of feminsim, gender discrimination, insecurity based on looks and skin colour, honour killing, taboo on sexuality, sexual violence which were prevalent even then and woven them to be a part of the story.’ - #Repost @suhaanisharmaa with @get_repost
📚 Mini Book Review 📚 The Beach Wedding by Dorothy Koomson Quick Read. ⭐⭐ out of 5. I really wanted to love this quick read after loving a couple of other ones last month and of course Dorothy Koomson is one of my favourite authors but something fell flat in this one. To be honest I found the whole storyline incredibly far fetched and unbelievable so I just didn't connect to any of the characters. Luckily the book was only 100 pages so I finished it quite quickly and the ending was very cute but I was a bit disappointed. I'm not a massive fan out short stories anyway so this probably didn't help. I think I will just stick to her novels from now on. #bookstagram #bookreviews #lovereading #bookaddict #thrillers #spooniereading #stayhomeandread #booklove #alwaysreading #happyreading #reader #bookworm #alwaysreading #addictedtobooks #quickread #review #2 ⭐

NORMAL PEOPLE - SALLY ROONEY I recently watched Normal People Hulu series (it was really good, I highly recommend you watch it, probably the best Book to Series adaptation ever ) and realised I've never talked about Normal People (the book ) here. It so often happens that I read a book so beautiful that I am unable to put down my thoughts about it, same happened with Normal People. I'll try to talk about it in this post but there's a high possibility that very little of it will make sense, so bear with me. Sally Rooney's Second Novel is the story of Marianne and Connell and what happens when their lives collide and intertwine through a span of many years. It's not your run of the mill romance novel though, it's way too intricate to be that, way too ordained with human emotions. Rooney's characters are multi faceted real beings struggling with life as much in their heads as outside. “Most people go through their whole lives, without ever really feeling that close with anyone.” The writing is outstanding and hooks you right in, the book starts with a very unremarkable scene, Connell stopping by at Marriane's place to pick up his mom from work and from there it unfolds like a waterfall. The writing is fluid, one sentence gives way to another like a game of domino. This is a book about relationships both intimate and otherwise, about changing couple dynamics, a commentary on social status and it's impact on individual lives, stupidity of teenage and wrong decisions. It's the story of two people, working their way through adolescence, adulthood and relationships, sometimes together, sometimes with others and more often than not alone. “All these years, they’ve been like two little plants sharing the same plot of soil, growing around one another, contorting to make room, taking certain unlikely positions.” I'll leave you with something I wrote the minute I finished reading the book; ‘Normal People can be viewed as a mirror or a screen projecting your life, you'd want to turn away but won't be able to. Jemisin’s BROKEN EARTH series. ⠀ ⠀ This is a fantasy novel, yes, but it is so much more. It is a commentary on systemic racism, oppression, deprivation of rights, authoritarianism, struggling with identity, and searching for freedom. It is about women trying to find their place in a world constantly stifling their power. It is about reconciling the desire to find peace in a broken world and a competing desire to burn it to the ground. ⠀ ⠀ I can’t say much about the plot, but what I can say is that N.K. Jemisin writes beautiful prose and expertly-crafted chapters. But don’t take my word for it, take her THREE consecutive Hugo Awards for each of these books (the first author in her genre to do this ). ⠀ ⠀ You get three different perspectives throughout this book and the end of each chapter leaves you wanting to tear through the book quicker and quicker. The world building is intense (I’m still a fantasy newbie so seasoned fantasy readers, this will be much easier for you!! ) but well worth it. It took me awhile to visualize everything in my head, but once I did, I was THERE and I was immersed in this world. ⠀ ⠀ I also loved all the characters: they had me laughing and crying and just feeling a deep need to understand them more. And I cannot wait to see how these books continue! I highly recommend this series, with the caveat that it is HEAVY so please take a look at the trigger warnings below! ⠀ ⠀ I also had the audiobook, which I give a 10/10!! ⠀ ⠀ CW: death of a child, missing child, child abuse, sexual abuse, slavery, racism, gaslighting, murder
Clap When You Land by @acevedowrites was a beautiful story. As someone who immigrated to the USA there was a lot that resonated with me. This book is written in verse but very easy to follow and beautifully written. In the Author’s note we learn that this story is written based on a plane that crashed from NY to DR in 2001. Most of the people on this flight were of Dominican descent and this story pays tribute to the lives lost. This book is about Camino and Yahaira, two sisters that share the same father but don’t know about each other’s existence. Camino waits for her father to come to DR every summer and Yahaira resents her father leaving her every summer. On this particular summer their fathers plane crashes which destroys both of them and leads to them finding each other. A beautiful tale of father and daughters, their love, mistakes, and connection. The Dominican culture embedded throughout this story is so captivation and described beautifully. Some SPOILERS/Personal Note: I lost my father at a young age and this brought back a lot of memories for me. Specially the unknown that came after the primary bread winner of our family passed. His death led to us moving to the USA from Perú with my moms family. Caminos anxiety and heartbreak when leaving her aunt behind in The Dominican Republic was a heartbreak I am very familiar with as I still feel to this day. I haven’t read any books before that capture this anguish you feel when wanting a better future but leaving those that you love the most behind with no date of return or possibility for them to come with you due to immigration laws. Also, while I didn’t find I had an unknown sister I did meet a lot of my moms side of the family for the first time and so Camino and Yahaira’s characters really resonated with me. I hope you love this book as much I did! ❤️ #clapwhenyouland #elizabethacevedo #bipocauthors #latinxauthors #latinxbookstagram #latinaswhoread #womenwhoread #latinxbooks #ownvoices #newbookstagram #latinabookstagrammer #bookrecommendations #bookreviews #bookreview #booksbooksbooks #morebookslessalgorithm #latinaswhoread #womenwhoread #readersofinstagram #bookaholic #bookstagram #socalbooks
Book Review: More Than a Woman by Caitlin Moran ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5/5 48/50 for 2020 Thank you @harperperennial for an advance copy of Caitlin Moran’s new book, which comes out in September! When I opened the package I literally dropped what I was reading and started this one straight away. If you haven’t read any of Caitlin Moran’s books before, I urge you to start now. They are truly excellent and the newest addition is no exception. With her classic scathing humor and wit, Moran takes on middle age. Some of the chapters were so spot on I was crying laughing. Topics include: “The List” - “the eternal note I keep open on my phone, the running totalizer of all the jobs that need doing but which I haven’t gotten round to it. Some of the items have been on there since I got pregnant. My youngest child is now seven.” Why Dad Bod is a thing but Mom Bod is not: “Men! This phrase was coined, for you, five years ago. Why have you not reciprocated with an equally living phrase to describe the average female body? Why is there no MUM BOD? Why are there not hordes of young male bloggers hymning the praises of women with slightly pouchy bellies, bums like wobbly custard, chunky monses, and adorably battered tits?!” A household of two working parents: “Here’s the thing, if you and your partner have jobs and children, then every day you are essentially both in trucks on a road laden with the day’s deadlines- DRIVING THEM AT EACH OTHER. Whoever blinks first, and swerves off-road, is the one who will be looking after the children that day.” This book is just so, so funny and relatable. I can’t wait to lend my copy to my best friend so we can discuss. Tell me the funniest book you have ever read! #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookreviews #oliveinfluencer #harperperennial #caitlinmoran #howtobeawoman #howtobuildagirl #morethanawoman #humorbooks #nonfiction #constantreader #summerreading #beachreads #sandiego #oceanbeach #pointloma
I’m clearly in beach read review mode right now, but I can’t help it. The Boyfriend Project is everything a fun romance novel should be! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ • After becoming viral video sensations for cursing out their cheating date, three women swear off boyfriends for six months to spend time on themselves. But almost immediately after, Samiah’s new coworker Daniel makes her swoon, and she has to navigate committing to the boyfriend project while potentially having a new boyfriend. • I love Samiah and Daniel. They’re smart, funny, and genuinely some of the warmest characters I’ve read in romance in recent memory. They’re both workaholics, which I can very much identify with, but we also see them in adorable date scenes all over Austin. We learn so much about these characters when they’re together without even realizing it, which for me is the mark of a truly well written novel. • The angst part of any romance novel can be challenging, as it leaves a lot of opportunity for illogical choices. However, after everything we’ve learned, Samiah and Daniel’s responses made complete sense for their characters. These characters felt so real, and I was rooting for them all the way through! • The female friendship & camaraderie between Samiah, London, and Taylor is such a fresh twist for romance, and I would have loved more of this in the novel. I also want to keep up with what happens with Samiah. Luckily, it’s listed as part of a series on Goodreads, and I’m so excited to see where it goes! I give this wonderful novel five stars out of five. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ • #bookcommunity #booklover #bibliophile #bookwormlife #bookaholic #reads #readingtime #igbookstagram #igreads #whatalexreads #bookishphoto #bookreviewblogger #bookreviewer #booksofinsta #currentreads #bookreviews #whatalexreads #bookstagramtogether #bookstagrams #bookstagramming #bookstagramcommunity #theboyfriendproject #farrahrochon

Book Review: Nine Shiny Objects by Brian Castleberry 🌙 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 48/50 for 2020 ✨THANK YOU @williammorrowbooks for my copy of Nine Shiny Objects✨ “June 26, 1947. Headlines across America report the sighting of nine pulsating lights flying over the Cascade Mountains at speeds surpassing any aircraft. In Chicago, inspired by the news, Oliver Danville, a failed actor now reduced to a mediocre pool hustler, hitchhikes west in a fever-dream quest for a possible sign from above that might illuminate his true calling. A chance encounter with Saul Penrod, an Idaho farmer, and his family sets in motion the birth of “the Seekers”—a collective of outcasts, interlopers, and idealists devoted to creating a society where divisions of race, ethnicity, and sexuality are a thing of the past. When Claudette Donen, a waitress on the lam from her suffocating family, encounters the group, she is compulsively drawn to Oliver’s sister Eileen, but before she is able to join the enigmatic community, it has vanished. Reunited across the country, the Seekers attempt to settle in the suburbs of Long Island. One night, their purpose suddenly revealed, a stranger emerges, and a horrific crime ensues. In the decades that follow, the perpetrators, survivors, and their children will be forced to face the consequences of what happened.” This book was completely different than anything I’ve read lately. I expected some kind of sci-fi based on the description but instead discovered a complicated, intricately woven character study. The story spans over 30 or so years, and touches upon the lives of different people as it sprawls. NSO at its heart is an examination of what it means to believe in something and how far people will go to nurture their beliefs. Have you ever read a book where all the elements really worked for you, but you can’t put your finger on exactly why? That’s Nine Shiny Objects. How did you spend your long weekend? #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #readersofIG #summerreading #bookreviews #reviewsneedlovetoo #scifibooks #extraterrestrials #nineshinyobjects #williammorrow #WMTastemakers #sandiego #california #pointloma
