Adapt. That’s the key word and lesson for me in the past 3 months of lockdown. In this picture itself: 🔨 makeshift high “desk” for my webinar ⏰ delivering training until midnight 🧢 to cover my long hair 🎉 delivered the most number of online talks, webinars, and trainings in the past 3 months 👕 delivering trainings in my pajamas While it seems productive, there was a lot of fear. Am I doing all these for the sake of being busy or because all the trainers and coaches out there are doing the same? Honestly, I don’t have any answer. I could be. But I’m glad that I’m taking time every week to evaluate what I’ve done and get more clarity about what’s right for me. A lot of things are about to change for me - and this clarity will be my guiding light.
As much as we’ve been conditioned in our early stage of life that life or success is linear, REAL LIFE actually doesn’t work that way. This image is such a great reminder for us all that we are all on our own timeline and pace. Don’t compare your first step to other’s step number 17856.
In my recent podcast with @michaelteohsulim , we spoke up a mystery fact about coaching. We also talked about why people need coaches. If you want to learn more about how anyone or you can find a coach for yourself, listen to the full podcast episode on Spotify or Apple Podcast. Link on bio. Click on world class speakers in the bio.
Paparazzi-ed in LA. Am I a Hollywood star already? Ok, side tracked. Got too excited seeing this picture in my favourite coffee place in LA. What I want to know from you all - what do you do when you’re stressed? What helps you go calm down and feel relaxed? For me, it’s the smell of good coffee. I can just walk in to a coffee place and instantly feel better when the smell of coffee hits my nose buds. What works for you? Comment below!
You didn’t fail, you learned. That’s my big lesson from my coach when I was sharing my failures and struggles to him. In that moment, I realized that in order for me to get better, it’s important for me to reflect on the different things I’ve done in the past. And we have all been there. How many of you experienced that moment where you looked back at something negative that happened to you, and you said “Oh, I’m glad it happened.”? It must have happened to us, it’s just a question of how long it takes for us to realize that. The earlier we realize that, the faster we could bounce back from adversities. Reflection is a powerful strategy to do that.
Last week I posted an Instagram story, and a few people noticed something on the background of the story – the reality TV show I was watching on the TV. It was a Chinese reality TV show of 109 girls coming to compete for 9 spots to be a group and launch their group album. And the reaction that I got from my friends are along this line of “Wow, I did knot this is your kinda show!” My reaction when I read those messages is 🤔 and then it became 😫 because that basically means people perceive me as the all-serious-no-fun kinda coach. But the fact is, I do enjoy a lot of random stuffs – random reality TV shows, or articles, or books. They helped me tremendously to be better in what I do. Listen to why doing something random that has nothing to do with your skills will have a big impact on your life in this video and my podcast with @amvplus , my dear mentor and currently CEO of The Star Media Group. Sometimes when you are doing something that seems to has no relevance to your career or important things in life, give yourself a break. Maybe that is exactly what you need. What are some of the random things you do that significantly help you to be/think better in what you do or in life? Would love to hear from you! Full episode of the podcast is on Spotify and Apple Podcast, or link in bio.
Your reality depends on which lens you see it from. Do you choose an empowering lens or disempowering lens? How would that choice change the way you behave and act in your life? Check out my new podcast episode - where my mentor who has changed my life 12 years ago will share with you that answer. Search for Life Insider Show with Coach KarFei on Spotify or Apple podcast.
One of our fan drew this a few months ago. I think this is a perfect message at this current situation we are in. Let’s keep showing up and perform.
I’m finally releasing my podcast, Life Insider Show, that my team has been working so hard for the past few months, yay! Our first guest is @malloryloone , a friend and an entrepreneur who is really passionate in people development and has made it a mission of her to make workplace more inspiring. During the Life Insider Show, she mentioned something that I’m extremely familiar with but I’ve never thought of using it in my personal life. 𝗜𝘁’𝘀 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗮 𝗯𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀. What she meant was, 𝙥𝙡𝙖𝙣 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙡𝙞𝙛𝙚 𝙡𝙞𝙠𝙚 𝙝𝙤𝙬 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙥𝙡𝙖𝙣 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙗𝙪𝙨𝙞𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙨. Imagine you’re about to pitch your business to investors and you need to lay out a few things: - Your current position, where you are now - Your future position, where you want to be - Your scalability, where you can go from now on - Risks and Profit, what are the challenges and rewards - Your stakeholders, who do you report to, or serve But, how many of us actually do have a life plan written down in detail like a business plan? This concept totally blew my mind 🤯 and I realized how useful it is to plan our life like how we plan our business. This is why I knew I had to share this strategy with you, because of how extraordinarily profound it is. In the podcast, Mallory shares even more golden nuggets about how she manages her life and her perspective in leadership. Click the link on my bio to access the first episode and let me know what is your biggest learning from there 😉
If I were to run weekly webinar or live coaching sessions, what do you want to learn from me? Comment below and let me know. I miss speaking and teaching - that’s why I’m considering a weekly coaching session.
When you encounter challenges, failures, and what you believe is the worse time of your life, always remember this. Personal mantra that I really believe in.
When you read the title of this podcast I launched, there are 2 things that I really wanted my listeners to get - the mind and the heart. So many podcasts out there are talking about the strategies, techniques, tactics to achieve your goals. But not many touched on the heart element - the roller coaster emotions, the turmoil, the challenges, the failures, the risk, and everything else that made life heart-pumping for many successful people. My wish is to bring these out from all my successful friends and mentors from all around the world to you - my listeners. So that these insights enable you to live 1% better everyday. 1% better is all we need, everyday. Life will change for the better, drastically. Last week has been a little rough for me. In the midst of the crisis that’s happening, things just were not going my way. From what supposed to be a exciting 2020, it turned sideways, pretty quickly. In the span of 2 weeks, I lose multiple 5-figure work contract with clients, all my plans were now shelved, and planned seminars are now on hold. When that happened, my instinct pushed me into action. I called people, rallied my team, and get back to the drawing board. But that gave me even more anxiety. I got even more stressed and realized I procrastinated more. As I was trying to find my balance, I browsed and stumbled upon this picture on my phone, taken during my workshop in Los Angeles in February. I have no idea what I was doing/saying, but this picture came at the right time now. Pause, and take time off to listen to you heart. I know many of us are afraid, scared or anxious, but it’s more important right now to take time to pause and reflect. Take this opportunity to reflect, listen to your intuition, realign, and take small actions. It’s not gonna be easy, but it will be worthwhile. Let me know in the comment if you’re feeling the same. And let’s support each other! ❤️
First things first, I honestly believe that fear exists for a reason. It exists to protect us from danger – a perceive danger in the future that could harm us. I call that, warranted fear. It’s the kinda fear that helps us to react automatically when we encounter an accident or a lion charging towards you. However, if we are being hold up by “UNWARRANTED” FEAR that stops us from taking action, then that is when we allow fear to stop us from living fully. The fear that • stops you from asking the girl out • stops you from taking that opportunity • stops you from getting on stage • stops you from getting out of an abusive relationship • stops you from writing that book • stops you from asking for the raise and many more. Get ride of those unwarranted fear. These unwarranted fear are just assumption of the future that might (most of the time will not ) happen. Get over them. Face them head on. YOU DESERVE THIS. Give a ❤️ if you resonate or tag 3 person who need to hear this 👇🏻
How to keep sane while working from home with the lockdown all around the world? Here are some of the things I have been doing which you can practice to help keep you sane in this time of opportunity. 1. 20/20/20 rule With extra time you have, use 60 mins to do something for yourself. 20 minutes of exercise, 20 minutes to review your goals (and work on your to do list ), and 20 minutes of learning - reading, videos, etc. 2. One MOST IMPORTANT THING I call this the lever - the ONE lever that you work that will bring benefits and improvement to other areas of your life. And do this one thing, religiously for the next 14-21 days. 3. Establish your space It is important to clearly have a space for work, for meals, for sleep, etc. Goal - to be able to move around to do different things, just like your daily life. This also helps your parents/partner to stay away when you are focused on working. 4. Leverage on technology Use technology to reach out to friends (text, calls, etc ) and have conversations with them. I had a few calls in the past few days with friends from all around the world, and that has been uplifiting to reconnect. And the beauty of these 4 things? if you do it now, you can keep doing it in the future, which will change your life. Tag 2 person whom you wanna share this with!
The image that people don’t see behind every talk with standing ovation, or a 9-hour full day training, or a full on 2-hour personal coaching session. Preparation. Well, yes, if I need to, I can get on stage without prior notice or coach when I needed to. But that’s because of the hours of practice that I’ve put in in the past 10 years. It’s not my certifications that get me to where I am today. It’s the hours I’ve put in and the number of lives I’ve served and transformed. And all those hours has much much more hours of preparation behind it. When you hire me to coach you, you’re not hiring me for the hours of coaching you get. You’re hiring me for the hours of coaching I’ve done in the past 10 years.
The top one was the stupid me 12 years ago. The bottoms one is the smarter me right now. Putting off sleep, relationships, health, break time (or I call it me time ) is not a badge of honor to be wore around. Your impact, your growth, and your results can be 10X when you learn to take care of all the other things. They are all interdependent and make you whole. What are you doing for yourself today, besides just working hard? Share with me below 👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻
That face of joy and sense of fulfillment when you know you’ve delivered massive value and so much transformation in people’s lives. Picture was taken when I was coaching the group and helping them to have breakthrough by achieving emotional freedom. Thanks @pauliusstaniunas for taking this perfect shot!
Got the chance to meet and learn from this amazing person. Who is this you might be thinking? He’s the mindset and mental coach for top Olympians and sportsperson in Malaysia - most notably, Datuk Nicol David. He has been part of the Olympic Games since before I was born and been part of the Malaysian Olympic team for many years - which means he has really worked in the minds of champions. One thing that he shared that was really profound was his insight about what makes a Olympic Champion different than any other ordinary person? A champion is just another ordinary person. But a champion does ordinary things (like playing a sports ) consistently well. What does it mean by consistently well? Usain Bolt trained for years to win a race in 9 seconds. Nicol trained for years to defeat an opponent in court in just 25 minutes. Pandelela dove for years to complete a perfect dive in just 3 seconds. You get the point. And the most important point is - we are all the same. We can all be our own champion by doing one thing at a time, consistently well.
Which step are you at right now? Every step is a choice. It’s hard at the beginning, but it gets easier with each step you take. Just like what @robinsharma says “Change is hard at first, messy in the middle, and gorgeous in the end.” But to get to the gorgeous bit, it takes the first step. What’s your first/next step today/tomorrow?
Focus. But at the same time, zoom out. What does that mean? Most successful people are known for or are master of ONE THING - they are hyper focus to succeed in that one thing, whatever that might be. But in order for them to pursuit excellence and mastery in that ONE THING, they spend a lot of time learning from other masters. But not just masters of that thing they are pursuing. They learn from masters or high performers in other industries, most learn from industries not relevant to theirs. Steve Jobs took calligraphy classes. Leonardo da Vinci learned to become scientist and botanist. Kobe Bryant took up storytelling and meditation. While you’re so focused on your goals now, what could be a new learning for you to become a master in your field?
If you really want to be great at something, you have to truly care about it. If you want to be great in a particular area, you have to obsess over it. A lot of people say they want to be great, but they’re not willing to make the sacrifices necessary to achieve greatness. They have other concerns, whether important or not, and they spread themselves out. That’s totally fine. After all, greatness is not for everybody. - @kobebryant
In 2020, may you cultivate the courage and then take the leap into where the magic happens. It might be uncomfortable, but it will be worth it! What’s something new that you want to work on this year?
When does Mastery actually end? In the past few days, Mastery is a word I heard many times over. Most likely because people want to focus on one area of expertise and be really good at at. What crossed my mind then is .... when does Mastery end? Unlike schools when we have a passing/failing grades, most skills we have in life don’t have that. When then would you say you’ve gained Mastery? 2020 is my 10th year in coaching. And it came upon me that for the last 9 years, I’ve been using Mastery as an excuse - an excuse to not do certain things in my life. I’ll tell you more about that in my next post. But for now, I would love to hear from you. How would you define Mastery? Share below👇🏻👇🏻
